Origin Story
This beer pays tribute to The Oldman River. The Oldman begins on the border of Alberta/BC and collects water from the rocky mountains on its way out to the prairies.
The area surrounding it is the traditional territory of the Pikanni nation. And the name "Oldman" is taken from the Blackfoot word Napi, or Oldman, who is a key figure in Blackfoot culture.
This Pale Ale was created by those who live around and work on the river. Imagine taking a sip and reminiscing about releasing a chunky rainbow trout then looking up to take in the contrast of crystal clear water and stark prairie.
Or maybe imagine decompressing with a pint in the shade after a day spent rowing guests down the Oldman.
These are the moments that birthed this beer and we believe it lives up to the beauty of those moments and this place.
Our brewery sits in between the three main tributaries that make up this significant water source for Southern Alberta. This river is an important cultural, agricultural, and recreational resource.
